Choose a fantasy or science fiction book to read for the May Book-It project. Please bring in the book for approval by Friday, May 5. You should choose a book that you have not yet read. Do not start reading until your teacher has approved the title.
After you read the story, you will make a book jacket to tell your classmates about the book. Teachers will supply the paper and we will fold it in class. Be creative and have fun with this!
Front Cover: Title, author, illustrator (if one) and a cover design or illustration of your own (not printed from computer).
Inside Front Flap: A short summary of the plot in your own words, at least 5 sentences long. Be sure to describe: who (characters), what (events), where (setting), when (time period).
Inside Back Flap: A brief biography of the author. You must include a printed photo or hand-drawn picture of the author. You should include at least 4 facts about the author.
Back Cover: Write 3 reviews of the book. Each review should be at least 3 sentences long. They can be written by a pretend newspaper, magazine, website, other authors, or you. Each review should be written by a different source but they should all be positive. (Otherwise they wouldn’t be on the book cover!) You can give stars, thumbs up, etc.
Neatness: Please write or type neatly with correct spelling, punctuation, capitalization and grammar. You may choose to do everything on separate paper and glue it onto the book jacket.
